Arundel Edward Otway Goodwin was born in Bungay Holy Trinity in 1894 (Wangford Q3-1894 4A:913), the son of George and Jane GOODWIN (née SIMPER).

1901 census...Aged 6, he was at The Crescent, Steeple Bumpstead with his father George GOODWIN, [37] joiner/builder born Denton, Norfolk; his mother Jane [37] born Holt; sisters Clara [14] and Grace [12] both in Denton; brother Alfred [10] born Denton; brother Guy [9] born Bungay Holy Trinity; brothers Hugh [4] and Ralph [1] born in Bildeston.

1911 census...Aged 16, an estate clerk, he was at Manor Farm, Herringswell with his parents (father now Estate Agent),sister Clara, brothers Alfred (farm pupil) and Guy (private secretary) and Hugh (farm worker) and Ralph (school). Also sister Dorothy Otway [7] and brother Rupert Otway [4](both born in Herringswell).


Enlisted on 4th November 1915 and was discharged on 20th March 1918 after an accident, thereby missing the German Spring Offensive.
He died in 1921 (Mildenhall Q4-1921 4A:983), which is too late for him to be added to the National Book of Remembrance. His name was added later on the memorial 66th Divisional Ammunition Column were part of the 66th (2nd/East Lancashire) Division, part of the line up to resist the Kaiserschlacht or German Spring Offensive of 1918.




Arundel Goodwin is buried in Herringswell (St Ethelbert's) Churchyard

His death was too late for inclusion on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's list, the cut off date being August 31st 1921
